THE VIOLENT VEG REVOLUTION IS UNDERWAY

The edgy and rarely politically correct world of Violent Veg continues to entertain and amuse an ever-increasing global audience.
Product categories performing well in the UK include greeting- cards by Carte Blanche Greetings. From an initial limited distribution test phase, the successful and popular range is now more and more visible on the High Street, and is still one of the best selling ranges in Clinton Cards.
A 3-year deal with Penguin books will see the launch of the first in a programme of Violent Veg titles to be sold worldwide, except in the US and Canada, where Barnes & Noble have taken a licence to publish a 144-page hardback gallery to be launched in August, specifically to the North American market, As well as a cartoon picture book to be launched in September, Penguin has already published a spiral-bound desk calendar and desk diary ready for the Christmas market.
From ring tones to wallpaper and clothing, diverse sectors of the licensing industry have embraced the Violent Veg concept. Licensing partners signed up to the UK programme include Fatspanner who supply pubs and entertainment venues with electronic on-premise games, Roy Lowe & Sons who have developed a range of socks, ID Wall who have developed a range of Giclée canvas prints and printed wallpapers, Pyramid for Posters, wall calendars, badges, stickers, postcards, Jarrolds for slimline calendars and Bemrose, who will produce a corporate wall calendar for 2008 for B2B channels only.
As well as the book deal with Barnes and Noble for the US, other international deals include Player One which has a non-exclusive licence for online and mobile applications such as animated screensavers, MMS, themes, ring tones, ring animations, games and videos.
Australian licensee, Licensing Essentials holds the licence for mugs, glassware, calendars, posters, postcards, greeting cards and mouse pads in Australia and New Zealand.
A recent double page spread in the Daily Mail highlighting the online profile of the Violent Veg cartoons has helped push awareness to an all time high which bodes well for the recent launch by Brandmaster, the owners of the Violent Veg brand, of a Violent Veg online shop. The website retails a selection of licensed products and also offers a bespoke service enabling T-shirts and mugs to be customised with a Violent Veg scene of choice.
Nicholas Durbridge, CEO of Copyrights, commented: “The Violent Veg brand has a broad demographic and cultural appeal, and adapts well to products and new media applications. Additional licensing categories that we are currently exploring include Fresh Produce, Toys and Games and Garden Accessories.”
