PETER RABBIT NATURALLY BETTER

  • Peter Rabbit Naturally Better is a new initiative of The World of Beatrix Potter, backed by a Corporate Social Responsibility Charter. This charter has been developed to take into account increasing concerns on the part of all our customers about the world in which we live and do business.
  • Themes covered include ethical, environmental, Health and packaging issues, with the aim of developing products which are: Better for the environment; Better for mothers and children; Better for the people who make them.
  • The first Naturally Better product launched in the UK in 2007: Staples’ (formerly Goulds) kitchen paper products.

Publishing:

  • Beatrix Potter’s enchanting books have sold over 150 million copies and have been translated into more than 35 languages.
  • Frederick Warne will publish 18 new titles in 2008.

 

Film, Television and DVD

  • Miss Potter feature film starring Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor, premiered in the UK in 2007. Critical and box office acclaim: Miss Potter took over £6.5m box office receipts, consistently 1 – 5 top films, key critical reviews were 4 star. Miss Potter Promotions: Successful consumer promotions across the Telegraph, Wedgwood/Daily Express and National Trust web promotion.
  • BBC Worldwide distribute broadcast, video and DVD rights for The World of Peter Rabbit and Friends.

  • Relaunch of www.peterrabbit.com in Autumn 2007.
  • Digital Stores: Official Peter Rabbit online merchandise licensee launched on 5 November 2007 with positive support from key licensees.
  • Licensing partners have access to the online image resource, a comprehensive database of all Beatrix Potter images, enabling faster and more efficient design.
  • Online trade-only portal created especially for licensees and retailers to download marketing support materials and information.

 

On stage

  • Royal Ballet – 11 performances December 2007 – January 2008 at the Royal Opera House at Covent Garden in London.
  • Launch of Peter Rabbit theatrical tour early 2008.

 

Jemima Puddle-duck Centenary events for 2008:

  • Whole Foods stores to carry Jemima Puddle-duck window displays to tie in with the Centenary.
  • Easter 2008 Book Promotion: Buy 2 books and get a free toy (Peter or Jemima). A 44-copy bin ‘Celebrate Jemima’s Birthday this Easter!’ will be supplied to 220 independents, 80 lakes and 200 WH Smith stores.
  • Jemima Puddle-duck Centenary Easter Egg Hunt from 19 March 2008: 100 craftsman-made eggs will be placed in locations throughout Cumbria which visitors can search for to win a prize. Web pages linked to www.golakes.co.uk indicates the approximate location of the eggs and monitors the findings.
  • Licensee, Rainbow Designs offer an anniversary collectors’ Jemima Puddle-duck plush and book in addition to Jemima Puddle-duck items such as keyring, bag and 22cm plush. Enesco offer a Jemima Puddle-duck ceramic figure and giftware.
